Step Forward: Help Lead the Dranesville PTA
Seeking 2026-27 President and Vice President
As we begin thinking about the upcoming school year, the Dranesville PTA is seeking a President and one Vice President to help guide our work and ensure continuity of the programs that support our students, staff, and families.
Many of our current board members have rising 5th and 6th graders. While we are fully committed to helping with a smooth transition, it’s important that we identify new leadership for these key roles now so the PTA can continue its work without interruption.
You Won’t Be Doing This Alone
We’re happy to share that most PTA board positions are already filled, including:
One Vice President
Treasurer
Communications Secretary
Membership Secretary
This means new leaders will be stepping into a PTA with strong systems, experienced support, and a collaborative team already in place. Current board members will provide training, guidance, and ongoing support throughout the transition.
What Does the PTA President Actually Do?
The President’s role is about coordination and leadership, not doing everything yourself. Responsibilities include:
Leading PTA and board meetings
Working closely with the principal and board
Supporting committee chairs and volunteers
Helping set priorities and keep things moving
Think of the President as the connector and facilitator, supported by a full board and active volunteers.
Why Consider the Vice President Role?
The Vice President role is a great option for someone who wants to:
Share leadership responsibilities
Support events or programs aligned with their interests
Learn PTA leadership with built-in backup
With one VP already in place, responsibilities can be divided thoughtfully, making this a manageable and rewarding role.
Why This Matters
The Dranesville PTA funds and supports:
After-school programs
Family fun events
Staff appreciation
Field trip scholarships
Bus transportation
And so much more
Without a President and Vice President, the PTA cannot operate at full capacity—and these important programs could be impacted.
Is This You?
You might be a great fit if you:
Care about supporting students and teachers
Enjoy working with a team
Want to make a meaningful impact (even if you’ve never done PTA leadership before)
Experience is helpful—but not required. Support and training are provided.
